Vaccinium delavayi, commonly known as Delavay’s Blueberry, is an evergreen shrub native to the mountainous regions, including forest margins and thickets, in China and the Himalayas in Tibet. It typically grows to a height and width of 2-3 feet (0.6-0.9 meters), forming a compact, rounded shape. This species is adorned with small, bell-shaped pink flowers in the spring, which are moderately showy and give way to dark blue, edible berries in the summer. The glossy, dark green leaves add to its ornamental value throughout the year.

Delavay’s Blueberry is valued for its ornamental features, including its attractive foliage, flowers, and edible fruit. It is suitable for use in mixed borders, as a foundation planting, or in woodland gardens. This shrub thrives in acidic, well-drained soils and benefits from mulching. While it prefers full sun to part shade, it requires protection from harsh afternoon sun in hotter climates.
