Summary
Pritchardia martii, commonly known as Martius’s Loulu Palm, is an evergreen palm native to the moist and dry forests of the Hawaiian Islands, particularly on the islands of O’ahu, Moloka’i, Maui, and Lana’i. It can vary greatly in size, typically growing to a height of 6-30 feet (1.8-9.1 meters) with a width of 8-10 feet (2.4-3 meters). The palm has a single, smooth grey trunk and large, fan-shaped leaves that can be up to 5 feet long. The inflorescences are branched and bear small, inconspicuous flowers, which are followed by black fruits when pollinated.
Martius’s Loulu Palm is valued for its graceful appearance and is used in tropical landscaping for its aesthetic appeal and adaptability to a range of conditions.
