Pentanema helenioides, commonly known as False Helichrysum, is a perennial herb native to the Mediterranean region, specifically southern France and north-central and eastern Spain. It thrives in open, dry habitats such as rocky hillsides, scrubland, and grassy clearings. This plant typically grows to a height of 20-60 cm and has a bushy form with narrow, lance-shaped leaves. The flowers are bright yellow, daisy-like, and appear in dense clusters from late spring to early autumn, providing a long-lasting display of color. The flowers are not particularly showy but add a subtle charm to the garden.

False Helichrysum is valued for its drought tolerance and ability to thrive in poor, well-drained soils, making it an excellent choice for xeriscaping and Mediterranean gardens. It is often used in rock gardens, as a border plant, or in wildflower meadows where its resilience and low maintenance are appreciated. It requires full sun to flourish and minimal water once established, reflecting its adaptation to dry Mediterranean climates.
