Oenothera rhombipetala, commonly known as Diamond Petal Primrose, is a biennial or annual herb native to the prairies and grasslands of the South Central United States. It typically grows to a height of 2-3 feet (0.6-0.9 meters) and a width of 0.3-1 feet (0.09-0.3 meters). The plant features a rosette of lance-shaped leaves and erect stems. Its distinctive four-petaled yellow flowers bloom in the summer, with each petal shaped like a diamond, hence the common name. The flowers open in the evening and are highly attractive to pollinators such as moths.

Diamond Petal Primrose is valued for its drought tolerance and the charming, bright yellow flowers that add a splash of color to wildflower gardens, meadows, and naturalized areas. It is also suitable for xeriscaping due to its low water requirements. Gardeners often use it in borders or as a specimen plant in rock gardens.
