It thrives in the Sonoran Desert and in thornscrub and tropical dry forest on ridges, slopes, and along arroyos. It is typically found on dry stony hillsides and along desert washes. This Mimosa is known for its bipinnate leaves and fluffy, spherical flower heads that are pink or red in color, blooming in the warm months and attracting pollinators. The flowers are quite showy, making it a popular ornamental plant.
