Manilkara kauki, commonly known as Wongi, is a slow-growing evergreen tree native to coastal rainforests and monsoon forests in tropical Asia, including Cambodia, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, and northern Queensland, Australia. It typically reaches a height of 20-30 feet (6-9 meters) with a dense, rounded canopy. The tree is notable for its rigid, blunt-tipped, dark green leaves that are pale and silky beneath, providing a striking contrast. Wongi produces small, fragrant, white to cream flowers, followed by edible, orange-red fruit that is 1.2-1.6 inches long and very tasty.

Wongi is valued for its ornamental foliage, shade-providing canopy, and delicious fruit. It is used in tropical and subtropical landscapes for urban planting, as a specimen tree, and for its edible fruit. The tree requires well-drained soil and thrives in full sun to part shade. While it is not commonly known for severe pest or disease problems, it should be monitored for signs of trouble.
