Summary

Kleinia petraea, commonly known as Creeping Jade, is an evergreen succulent native to rocky outcrops and dry scrublands of Eastern Africa. It typically reaches a height of 0.3 feet (0.09 meters) and spreads out to about 0.7 feet (0.2 meters). This plant forms a mat of fleshy, blue-green leaves that provide a unique texture in the garden. The orange, daisy-like flowers bloom in the fall and summer, adding a splash of color and are moderately showy.

Creeping Jade is valued for its drought tolerance and ease of maintenance, making it an excellent choice for water-wise gardens. It is commonly used as ground cover, in rock gardens, or displayed in hanging baskets to showcase its trailing habit. It thrives in full sun. Well-draining soil is crucial to prevent root rot. While generally pest-free, it can occasionally suffer from mealybugs or fungal diseases in overly moist conditions.CC BY-SA 4.0
