Summary
Ixeridium dentatum, commonly known as Toothed Ixeridium, is a perennial herb native to East Asia, specifically found in countries such as China, Japan, and Korea. It thrives in a variety of habitats including wet meadows, open forests, and along stream banks. This plant typically grows to a height of 1-2 feet (0.3-0.6 meters) and features basal rosettes of toothed, lanceolate leaves. The yellow, daisy-like flowers bloom in the summer and are modest in appearance, yet they attract pollinators such as bees and butterflies.
Toothed Ixeridium is valued for its low maintenance and adaptability to a range of soil types, including clay, loam, and sandy soils, provided they offer medium drainage. It is often used in naturalistic plantings, such as meadow gardens and informal borders, due to its ability to blend well with other perennials. While it prefers full sun or part shade, it is also tolerant of a variety of light conditions, making it versatile for different garden settings. Regular watering will ensure optimal growth, especially in drier conditions. There are no widely recognized cultivars in the horticultural trade, and it is not known for being particularly problematic in terms of diseases or aggressive growth. However, gardeners should be aware that it may not be winter-hardy in colder regions.CC BY-SA 4.0
