Hedychium flavum, commonly known as Yellow Ginger Lily, is an evergreen or deciduous perennial herb native to the understory of moist, tropical forests in Southeast Asia and South-Central China. It typically grows to a height of 3-6 feet (0.9-1.8 meters) and a width of 2-3 feet (0.6-0.9 meters). The plant features lance-shaped leaves and spikes of fragrant, yellow flowers that bloom in late summer to early fall. The flowers are showy and often used in cut flower arrangements.

Yellow Ginger Lily is valued for its aromatic flowers and tropical appearance. It is commonly used in ornamental gardens, as a container plant, and in mass plantings for a bold effect. In cultivation, it prefers partial shade to full sun, consistently moist soil, and good drainage. It is relatively low maintenance but may require regular watering during dry periods.
