Hakea ulicina, commonly known as Furze Hakea, is an evergreen shrub or small tree native to heathlands and dry sclerophyll forests in Victoria, Australia. It typically grows to a height of 2–5 meters (7–20 feet) and is characterized by its stiff, long, narrow leaves and clusters of creamy-white flowers. The flowers are small but numerous, creating a striking display when they bloom from late winter to spring. The plant’s woody fruit is a woody follicle that remains on the plant for several years.

Furze Hakea is valued for its hardiness and the textural interest it adds to gardens. It is often used in cultivation for screening, as a feature plant in native gardens, or for its attractive foliage and flowers. This species is adapted to a range of soil types, provided they are well-drained, and it can tolerate both full sun and part shade. While it is drought-tolerant once established, it benefits from occasional watering during extended dry periods. Furze Hakea is relatively low-maintenance but can be affected by hakea and protea diseases such as root rot if drainage is poor.
