Summary
Euphorbia marginata, commonly known as Snow-on-the-Mountain, is an annual herb native to prairies, plains, and meadows in temperate North America. It has been naturalized in China. This plant typically grows to a height of 1-3 feet (30-90 cm) and spreads 0.5-2 feet (15-60 cm) wide. It features grey-green leaves with white-margined bracts that surround small, inconspicuous white flowers, blooming from mid-summer to early fall. The variegated foliage is often more noticeable than the flowers and adds a striking contrast to garden settings.
Euphorbia marginata is valued for its distinctive foliage, which can brighten up floral arrangements and garden beds. It is commonly used in borders, as a bedding plant, and in wildflower gardens. This species prefers full sun and can tolerate a range of soil types, provided they are well-drained. It is drought-tolerant once established and requires minimal maintenance, making it a suitable choice for xeriscaping. However, gardeners should handle this plant with care, as the sap can cause skin irritation.CC BY-SA 4.0
