Erysimum suffrutescens, commonly known as Island Wallflower, is an evergreen perennial herb native to the chaparral, coastal sage scrub, and pine forests of California and its Channel Islands. It typically grows to a height of 1-4 feet (0.3-1.2 meters) and a width of 0.6-3 feet (0.2-0.9 meters). The plant has a woody base with narrow, lance-shaped leaves and produces clusters of bright yellow, four-petaled flowers that bloom primarily in the spring and sometimes sporadically throughout the year, adding a splash of color to the garden.

Island Wallflower is valued for its extended blooming period and its ability to attract pollinators such as bees and butterflies. It is often used in native plant gardens, rock gardens, and as a border plant due to its moderate size and vibrant flowers. This species is drought-tolerant, making it suitable for xeriscaping and low-water landscapes. It thrives in full sun and requires well-drained soils, preferably with a sandy or gravelly composition.
