Summary
Erigeron uniflorus, commonly known as Oneflower Fleabane, Single Fleabane, or Northern Daisy, is a perennial herb that thrives in alpine and subalpine regions, including rocky slopes and meadows, across the Northern Hemisphere. It exhibits a moderate growth rate, reaching heights of 0.5-1.5 feet (0.15-0.5 meters) and spreading 0.5-1 feet (0.2-0.3 meters). This plant forms a low mound of foliage from which emerge slender stems topped with solitary, daisy-like flowers. The blooms, which appear in summer, are typically purple or white and are modest in size but can be quite showy due to their abundance.
Oneflower Fleabane is valued for its hardiness and the delicate charm of its flowers, which can enliven rock gardens, borders, and wildflower meadows. It is relatively easy to maintain, requiring minimal care once established. While it prefers full sun or part shade, it is adaptable to various light conditions. The plant is best suited to sandy or loamy soils with good drainage. It is not known for having significant disease or pest issues, but it can be susceptible to root rot in poorly drained soils.
