Summary
Crowea exalata, commonly known as Small Crowea, is an evergreen subshrub native to the open eucalypt woodlands and rocky outcrops of Eastern Australia. It typically grows to a height and width of 1-2 feet (0.3-0.6 meters), forming a compact, bushy mound. Small Crowea is characterized by its glossy green leaves and star-shaped, pink flowers that bloom throughout the year, with peak flowering in late winter to spring. The flowers are moderately showy and attract pollinators such as bees.
Small Crowea is valued for its low maintenance requirements and year-round floral display, making it an excellent choice for rockeries, container planting, and as a filler in mixed borders. It thrives in well-drained, acidic to neutral soils and benefits from occasional pruning to maintain its shape and encourage denser growth. While it prefers part shade, it can also tolerate full sun.
