Summary

Crassula obovata, commonly known as Jade Plant, is an evergreen succulent native to the Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal provinces of South Africa. It can grow to a height of 3-6 feet (0.9-1.8 meters) and a width of up to 2 feet (0.6 meters). This plant has a thick, woody stem and glossy, fleshy, oval-shaped leaves that are a rich jade green, hence its common name. The Jade Plant produces small, star-shaped yellow and white flowers during the fall, which add a subtle charm to its appearance.

The Jade Plant is valued for its ease of maintenance and its ability to thrive in indoor conditions, making it a popular houseplant. It is often used in container plantings, as a houseplant, and in succulent gardens. The Jade Plant prefers full sun but can tolerate partial shade and requires well-draining soil. While generally pest-resistant, mealybugs and fungal diseases can sometimes be a problem. Overwatering is a common issue, leading to root rot. It is also known for its air-purifying qualities and is believed to bring good luck in many cultures, adding to its appeal as a houseplant.CC BY-SA 4.0
