The sap is a distinctive sticky yellow, which can be seen when the plant is cut or damaged.

Pale Mexican Prickly Poppy is valued for its striking flowers and its ability to thrive in poor, disturbed soils, making it a potential choice for xeriscaping and restoration projects in suitable climates. It requires minimal maintenance once established and is drought-tolerant, preferring full sun and well-drained soils. However, its invasive potential should be considered before planting, as it can spread rapidly and outcompete native vegetation. It is not recommended for areas where it is known to be invasive.
