Allocasuarina torulosa, commonly known as the Rose She-oak or Forest Oak, is an evergreen tree native to the dry forests and woodlands of eastern Australia. It typically reaches 12-18 meters (40-60 feet) in height and 4.5-7.5 meters (15-25 feet) in width. The tree’s foliage consists of slender, needle-like branchlets that give a fine-textured, weeping appearance, turning reddish-brown in winter. The true leaves are tiny and found at the joints of the branchlets. It produces small, warty cones that are 15-33 millimeters long and 15-25 millimeters in diameter. The bark is thick and corky, providing an interesting textural contrast in the landscape.

The Rose She-oak is valued for its unique foliage, low maintenance, and ability to grow in a range of soil types, including poor soils. It is drought-tolerant once established, making it suitable for xeriscaping and urban environments where water conservation is a priority. It is also used as a windbreak or for erosion control due to its robust root system. In cultivation, it thrives in full sun, with low to medium water requirements, and prefers soils with medium to fast drainage. It is frost-tolerant and suitable for USDA hardiness zones 8–11.
