Summary
Achillea crithmifolia, commonly known as Sea-leaved Yarrow or Seaside Yarrow, is a perennial herb that can behave as a biennial or annual in certain climates. It is native to Europe, including rocky cliffs, coastal grasslands, and sandy areas, where it is adapted to saline conditions and can often be found in full sun environments. This plant typically grows to a height of 0.5-1.5 feet (0.15-0.5 meters) and spreads 1-2 feet (0.3-0.6 meters), forming a low, dense mat of fern-like, aromatic foliage. The white, showy flowers appear in dense, flat-topped clusters and bloom in the summer, attracting a variety of pollinators.
Sea-leaved Yarrow is valued for its drought tolerance, making it an excellent choice for xeriscaping and coastal gardens. It is also used in rock gardens, as a ground cover, and in borders for its attractive foliage and flowers. This yarrow requires minimal maintenance and is resistant to deer and rabbits. It thrives in full sun and prefers well-drained sandy or loamy soils, tolerating poor fertility and drought conditions. While generally disease-resistant, it can occasionally suffer from fungal diseases in overly moist conditions.CC BY-SA 4.0
