Zieria laevigata, commonly known as Smooth Zieria or Twiggy Midge Bush, is an evergreen shrub native to dry sclerophyll forests and rocky outcrops in eastern Australia, from Queensland to Jervis Bay in New South Wales. It typically reaches about 5 feet in height and has a similar spread. The plant features small, trifoliate (three-part) leaves that are smooth, as its specific epithet ’laevigata’ suggests. From late winter to spring, it produces clusters of small, pale pink to white flowers that are mildly fragrant and attract a variety of pollinators.

Smooth Zieria is valued for its hardiness and ability to thrive in poor, well-drained soils, making it a suitable choice for rockeries and native plant gardens. It requires minimal maintenance once established and is drought-tolerant, though it benefits from occasional watering during prolonged dry periods. It prefers a position in full sun to part shade. There are no widely recognized cultivars, but its natural form is well-suited to cultivation as it provides habitat for beneficial insects.
