Summary
Veronica glaucophylla, commonly known as Alpine Speedwell, is a perennial herb native to subalpine and alpine grasslands and herb fields in New Zealand. It typically grows at a moderate rate to a height of 0.2-0.3 feet (0.06-0.1 meters) and a width of 0.5-1 feet (0.2-0.3 meters). Alpine Speedwell has a compact growth habit with lance-shaped, glaucous leaves and produces clusters of bright blue, showy flowers during the summer months, which are attractive to pollinators such as bees.
Alpine Speedwell is valued for its vibrant blue flowers and low-growing form, making it an excellent choice for rock gardens, alpine troughs, and as a ground cover in garden borders. It is also used in cottage gardens for its charming appearance and ease of maintenance. This plant prefers well-drained, loamy soil and can tolerate a range of pH levels. While it thrives in full sun to part shade, it requires protection from the hot afternoon sun in warmer climates. Alpine Speedwell is generally pest and disease-free but can be susceptible to root rot if overwatered or planted in poorly drained soils.CC BY-SA 4.0
