The plant has a rosette of wavy-edged, gray-green leaves and a tall spike of densely clustered yellow flowers that bloom in the summer, providing a modest display that attracts pollinators.

Wavy-Leafed Mullein is valued for its drought tolerance and ability to thrive in poor, well-drained soils, making it suitable for xeriscaping and rock gardens. It is also used in wildflower meadows and naturalistic plantings. The plant’s low water requirements and preference for full sun make it an easy-care option for gardeners. While not commonly used for culinary or medicinal purposes, it is related to other mulleins that have traditional uses. Potential problems include susceptibility to spider mites and root rot in overly moist conditions.
