Summary
Thalictrum filamentosum, commonly known as Thread-Like Meadow Rue, is a deciduous perennial herb native to moist meadows, grasslands, and forest edges in East Asia, including regions of China, Japan, and Korea. It typically grows to a height of 0.3-0.5 feet (0.09-0.15 meters) and spreads 1-2 feet (0.3-0.6 meters), forming delicate clumps. The plant features fine, lacy foliage and bears airy clusters of tiny, pendulous flowers with prominent stamens, which give a frothy appearance. The flowers, appearing in summer, range in color from soft pink to lavender and are quite showy despite their size.
Thread-Like Meadow Rue is valued for its ethereal beauty and is often used in woodland gardens, shaded borders, and cottage gardens. It is appreciated for its ability to add texture and lightness to plantings. While it prefers consistently moist soil, it is relatively low maintenance once established. It requires protection from strong winds due to its delicate stems. This species is not typically associated with serious diseases or pests, but powdery mildew can occasionally be a problem in humid conditions. It is not known for being invasive and does not have aggressive roots, making it a safe choice for most garden settings.CC BY-SA 4.0
