Sphaeralcea grossulariifolia, commonly known as Gooseberryleaf Globemallow or Current-Leaf Globe-Mallow, is a deciduous perennial subshrub native to arid and semi-arid regions, including desert scrub, pinyon-juniper woodlands, and riparian zones in the Intermountain West of the USA. It typically produces erect stems up to 1 meter (3 feet) tall from a woody base, with a robust root system featuring a stout taproot and a spreading fibrous network. The foliage is characteristically woolly, with a gray-green to purplish hue. From late spring to early fall, it bears showy flowers arranged in raceme-like clusters, with each bloom showcasing five red-orange petals, each 1 to 2 centimeters long. These flowers are highly attractive to a variety of bee species, which serve as pollinators.

Gooseberryleaf Globemallow is valued for its drought tolerance and vibrant flowers, making it a suitable choice for xeriscaping, rock gardens, and naturalistic plantings. It thrives in full sun and requires minimal water once established, preferring well-drained soils. While it is generally low-maintenance, it can be susceptible to root rot in poorly drained conditions.
