The white flowers, which are showy, bloom in the summer on a spike above the foliage, attracting pollinators such as bees.

Velvet Rattlesnake Plantain is valued for its ornamental foliage and flowers, making it a suitable choice for woodland gardens, shade gardens, and naturalized areas. It is also used in native plant gardens to support local ecosystems. In cultivation, it requires part shade to maintain its vibrant leaf coloration and prefers medium or fast draining loam or clay soils with consistent moisture.
