Cysticapnos vesicaria, commonly known as Bladder Campion or Bubble Poppy, is a perennial herb native to the open grasslands and sandy plains of Southern Africa. It exhibits a rapid growth rate and typically reaches a height and width of 0.5-1.5 feet (0.15-0.5 meters). The plant is characterized by its delicate, fern-like foliage and distinctive, inflated purple flowers that bloom profusely in the spring and summer, adding a touch of showiness to the garden. The flowers are followed by interesting bladder-like seed pods that may also attract attention.

Bladder Campion is valued for its drought tolerance and ability to thrive in poor soils, making it a suitable choice for xeriscaping and rock gardens. It is also used in borders and as a ground cover due to its low-growing habit and attractive foliage. Gardeners appreciate its low water needs and its adaptability to sandy or loamy soils with excellent drainage. While it prefers full sun, it can tolerate light shade. There are no widely known cultivars of this species, and it is generally free from serious pests and diseases.
