Crepidiastrum sonchifolium, commonly known as Oriental False Hawksbeard, is a perennial herb native to open woodlands and grassy slopes in East Asia, particularly in Japan, Korea, and parts of China. This species typically grows to a height of 20-60 cm (8-24 inches) and a width of 15-30 cm (6-12 inches). It has an upright form with lance-shaped leaves and produces small, yellow, daisy-like flowers from late spring to early autumn. The flowers are modest in size but can be quite showy when the plant is in full bloom.

Oriental False Hawksbeard is appreciated for its extended flowering period and its ability to adapt to a variety of garden settings. It is often used in border plantings, wildflower gardens, and as a ground cover. This plant prefers well-drained soil, tolerates a range of soil types, and requires moderate watering. It thrives in full sun to part shade conditions. While generally low-maintenance, it can be susceptible to common garden pests such as aphids and slugs.
