It typically grows to a height of 2-2.5 feet (0.6-0.8 meters) and a width of 2-3 feet (0.6-0.9 meters). The plant features green, inconspicuous flowers that bloom in the summer and are not particularly showy. The foliage is often used as a leaf vegetable, similar to spinach, and has a rich mineral content.

Slenderleaf Goosefoot thrives in full sun to part shade and prefers medium to fast-draining soils such as clay, loam, or sandy types. It requires medium amounts of water, making it relatively easy to maintain. While it is not commonly grown for ornamental purposes, it can be used in vegetable gardens or as a part of a mixed border for its edible leaves.
